Department of Health, Physical Education, and Movement Science

Good health and fitness are essential to a child's well-being and academic success. Students in the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Movement Science prepare for careers as health and physical education teachers who promote wellness, fitness, motor development and competence, skill proficiency and remediation.

The Department offers two CAEP-accredited (Council for the Accreditation of Education Preparation) undergraduate degree options: a 120-credit B.S. in Physical Education and a 127-credit dual B.S. in Health Education and Physical Education. Both degrees can be completed in four (4) years and lead to New York State Initial Teaching Certification to teach students in Kindergarten through grade 12. The rigorous academic programs are supplemented with extensive field experiences that creatively link theory and practice.
